Your screen, while you work. Bodoni Moda by default — you choose the words, the typeface and how faint they are. The card backing shown here comes with Plus, so the words read over anything.

Feel the elegance of the controls.

Then download it to experience the full performance.

Play with the app below. Change the phrases, drag the windows around, pull the sliders, and open the tabs to see what the app looks like. In the app, binaural beats, bilateral sound, your own recorded voice, your own photos and the wallpaper carousel all work.

Who it's for

Every thinking person.
How many of your current thoughts were introduced by someone else long ago? Which ones did you choose or design, and to what end?

Somote was created to set you free from limiting self-talk and replace it with thoughts that serve you, thoughts that help create the reality you want.

Somote is for people who know that a sabotaging voice costs them too much, the ones whose work depends on backing themselves before the proof exists.

Founders & operators
The plan was never the problem.

The voice asking who do you think you are is what decides how big you'll go, what you'll charge, and which room you'll walk into. A scarcity tape is not a soft problem when you're the one making the calls.

Artists, writers & makers
Nothing good survives a narrator.

Ever tried to work while a voice explains, in real time, why it never works out for you or how everyone knows you never follow through? Quiet that and the work tends to arrive at a pace that surprises everyone, including you.

People starting over
A new life, narrated by the old one.

A new city, a new career, rebuilding a life. You are being asked to become a person you have never been, using an inner voice that only knows who you used to be.

Anyone taught to expect less
Scarcity is a sentence first.

Long before it is a circumstance, it is something repeated - about money, about worth, about what people like you get to have. Change what repeats and you change what you experience.

The one everyone leans on
Say it back to yourself.

You have said the generous thing to everyone in your life today. Somote says it back to you a few hundred times, in the background, while you keep holding everything up.

Anyone under real pressure
The practice that asks nothing.

Finals, a launch, a season where the margin is thin. The only routine that survives a week like that is one with nothing to open, nothing to log, and no ten minutes you don't have to say words you don't believe.

There is no one alive who isn't repeating something.

Most of those sentences were recorded by other people, a long time ago, in a voice you would never have chosen. You have been playing them back ever since about your body, your money, your work, whether you are easy to love.

Now you can record over them without having to create new habits and rituals.

The subconscious isn't a dictator. It's a record player.

Tell a child often enough that they never finish anything, and it sticks. Tell the same child they have an eye for detail, and that sticks too. Neither has to be true to become their reality as an adult. It only has to repeat.

The only thing that overwrites a repeated sentence is another repeated sentence.

That is all a belief is: a sentence with enough repetitions behind it. Somote is the recording device — your lines, on your screen, beneath your attention, dozens of times a day, until the record in your head is one you composed.

On manifestation
Not another ritual to maintain.

Every manifestation practice runs on the same engine: a sentence, repeated until it feels true. The mechanism is sound — what fails is volume, because any practice that depends on remembering to do it competes with everything else in a day.

Some call it Robotic Affirming or spamming your brain, but by any term, Somote is the repetition itself, running quietly while you work and play.

Fifty years of the same finding.

Repeat a sentence and it starts to feel true — even to people who know better.
In controlled studies, repetition raised belief in statements participants could factually disprove. Education offered no immunity; neither did intelligence. Researchers call it the illusory-truth effect, and it runs on one fuel — familiarity.
Hasher, Goldstein & Toppino, 1977 · Fazio, Brashier, Payne & Marsh, 2015 — J. Experimental Psychology: General
Words flashed too fast to read made people in their eighties measurably stronger.
Four brief sessions of subliminal positive words strengthened how older adults saw themselves, then improved their physical function — gains still measurable three weeks after the last session, where direct instruction fell short.
Levy, Pilver, Chung & Slade, 2014 — Psychological Science (Yale)
We come to prefer whatever we see most often.
Mere exposure: across hundreds of experiments, repeated sight alone — no argument, no persuasion — reliably increases liking. Familiar becomes favorable. It is one of the most replicated findings in psychology.
Zajonc, 1968 · Bornstein, 1989 meta-analysis of 208 studies
Nearly half of what you did today, you did on autopilot.
Roughly 43% of daily actions run on habit — cued by context, not decision. The record plays either way. The only open question is who recorded it.
Wood, Quinn & Kashy, 2002 — J. Personality & Social Psychology

Milliseconds
Around 17 ms, a word slips past attention. By 30–50 ms, it reliably primes what follows.
One frame (~17 ms) escapes conscious report; longer masked flashes measurably shape the response that follows. The dial spans that whole curve, and Deep Mode sits at the threshold, repeating every 7 seconds.
Holcomb & Grainger, 2007 — Brain Research
Opacity
The quieter the exposure, the larger the effect.
Across 208 exposure experiments, stimuli people never consciously registered produced larger effects than ones they noticed. Hence the 3–8% zone: present in every glance, beneath the threshold of noticing.
Bornstein, 1989 · Bornstein & D'Agostino, 1992
Position
Words land hardest where the eyes already are.
Priming studies place the word at the point of fixation, where a brief word is processed most fully. So phrases sit mid-screen, in the path of your gaze — not in a corner you have learned to ignore.
Pernet et al., 2007 · standard practice across the masked-priming literature
Frequency & rotation
The effect peaks near 10–20 exposures — then wants variety.
Liking climbs across the first 10–20 repetitions, then levels off — and rotating several messages beats one on a loop. Hence playlists, shuffle, and a frequency dial.
Bornstein, 1989 · Berlyne's two-factor model · Montoya et al., 2017
The reasoning behind each dial

These studies didn't use Somote, but what they establish is the mechanism Somote automates: repetition changes what we like, what we believe, and what we experience.

FEATURES

Say it in your own voice.

Record your affirmations and hear them back in the voice you already believe. Somote loops them quietly underneath your day — under a movie, a game, music, or nothing at all. Nothing else is paused or quieted; your voice simply sits underneath it.

Record as many as you like, choose which ones play and in what order, and set the silence between them. Included with Plus.

Record
Straight in the app. Name each one, and check the ones you want playing.
Arrange
Drag them into the order you prefer, or shuffle. Set the silence between them, anywhere from none to thirty seconds.
Balance
Its own volume, so your voice sits where you want it against the binaural or bilateral sound — they play together, not instead of each other.
Private by construction

Your recordings are ordinary audio files, saved on your own computer. Delete one in the app and the file goes with it.

Binaural Beats

Open the Sound tab to choose from five presets — Calm, Focus, Attention, Sleep, Meditation — or dial in your own frequencies. Sessions can be put on a timer, fading out on their own.

Two tones a few hertz apart, one in each ear: the brain perceives the difference between them as a single slow pulse. Steady exposure to that pulse — brainwave entrainment — is among the most studied approaches to shifting state deliberately, and it is why every preset here is named for the frequency band it targets rather than just a mood.

A note on flashing content and sound — please read before using SOMOTE

SOMOTE works by flashing your phrases and photos on screen — including, at some settings, very rapid micro-flashes. A small percentage of people may experience seizures, blackouts, or severe dizziness when exposed to flashing lights or patterns, even with no prior history.

If you — or anyone who shares your screen — have a history of epilepsy or photosensitive seizures, do not use SOMOTE without consulting a doctor first.

Stop using it immediately and seek medical attention if you experience dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, involuntary movements, disorientation, or convulsions.

On binaural beats and bilateral sound

Binaural beats and bilateral sound are designed for use with stereo headphones to create their intended effect. Listen at a comfortable volume, and do not use while driving, operating machinery, or during any activity that requires your full attention.

If you have a history of epilepsy, seizures, or another neurological condition, are pregnant, have a medical condition, or are under the care of a physician, consult your healthcare provider before using binaural beats if you have any questions or concerns.

Discontinue use immediately if you experience dizziness, headaches, nausea, discomfort, or any other adverse effects.

SOMOTE is designed to support personal growth and well-being. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition, nor is it a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, or have concerns about your health, seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.

This warning is also shown in the app on first launch and after every update, and SOMOTE will not begin flashing until it has been read and acknowledged.
